On July 8th, the parish celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the priesthood of Fr. Jose Luis Martinez, OAR. The celebration began with Mass at 7pm, presided over by Fr. Jose Luis. In his homily, Fr. Jose Luis spoke of his various assignments, experiences as a religious priest throughout these years and expressed gratitude for all of the support received from the faithful. Several concelebrating priests, deacons, representatives from parish groups and community were present. After the Mass, the celebration continued in Santa Monica Parish Hall where several parish choirs sang during the evening meal.

On July 11-12, the community was blessed to have the pilgrim image of Our Lady of Zapopan, from Zapopan, Mexico, come to our parish. The image was accompanied by the Franciscan Friars of Zapopan. The faithful came to pray before the image seeking her intercession and to thank her for favors received.
On July 21-22, the Relics of Santo Toribio Romo came to our parish. Santo Toribio, a Mexican martyr, was canonized on May 21, 2000, by Saint John Paul II. Many immigrants have a special devotion to him. The relics were accompanied by Fr. Martin, custodian of the relic, from Jalostotitlan, Mexico, who celebrated the Holy Eucharist one night and spoke about the life and virtues of the saint. The faithful had an opportunity to venerate the relic, part of his right ankle, to pray for his intercession and thank him for favors received.
On September 10, Feast of Saint Nicolas of Tolentine, Fr. Eliseo González, OAR, presided over the Holy Eucharist, spoke of Saint Nicolas, blessed and handed out the traditional bread for this feastday.
