May 31st -- With sadness St. Benedict Parish had to say goodbye to Fr. Juan Jose Guzman, OAR, as he was transferred to his new assignment at Cristo Rey Parish in Glendale. We thank him for the short ten months he was with us. In that brief time, he won the hearts of the faithful here. We wish you the best in your new assignment Father! We know you'll be a great blessing to the people of Cristo Rey.

June 14 -- Flea Market - The summer couldn't begin without St. Benedict's Flea Market bringing together parishioners and non-parishioners alike to enjoy a time together under the bright summer sun in support of the Parish's refurbishment project. We had a good turnout of sellers and buyers and spent a nice day building friendships. We thank all those who came out to support us!!
August 18 -- The parish school started its new school year with over 550 students. Pupils and staff alike happily began the new year in which they will continue to learn and share under the watchful eye of St. Benedict. Welcome back everyone!
August 27/28 -- St. Monica and St. Augustine -- The Secular Augustinian Recollects and the Augustinian Recollect Friars of Montebello showed the great Augustinian spirit permeating their hearts as they prepared the parish for a great celebration on the occasion of the feastdays of St. Monica and our Father St. Augustine. Beautiful flower arrangements adorned their images and a large and joyous gathering followed the solemn Mass on the 28th in the parish hall where the SAR's and parish groups prepared a festive meal for all.

September 4 -- Our Mother of Consolation -- During the day's Masses, the Parish and Recollect Communities joined in celebrating with a joyful spirit the Patroness of our Order, Our Mother of Consolation. It was a great time to share with the faithful the richness of the Recollect spirit and tradition.
September 6 -- Our Lady of Fatima visits St. Benedict - Saturday morning the parishioners at St. Benedict woke up to a great surprise as they were gifted with a visit of the Pilgrim image of Our Lady of Fatima. Our Lady was welcomed at 11am with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament followed by prayers and supplications throughout the day. After the 6pm Mass, the pilgrim Virgin left us, but not before leaving behind blessings in many grateful and comforted hearts.
September 10 -- Feast of St. Nicholas of Tolentine -- Once more the Augustinian Recollect family at St. Benedict gathered to celebrate the feast of St. Nicholas of Tolentine with the blessing of the bread in his honor at all the Masses. St. Nicholas is the first of the Augustinian Saints. The parish school children participated by bringing their own bread to be blessed, and the extraordinary ministers of the Holy Eucharist took some of the blessed bread to the parish hospital and nursing homes.
September 21 -- Catechetical Sunday - Today all our volunteers and religious coordinators of the parish were present at the 9 am and 12:30 pm Masses and were blessed and sent out to teach and proclaim the kingdom of God to all those children and adults alike who are preparing to receive the sacraments. Thank you for your hard work and dedication, and good luck as you begin the new catechetical year!
October 3 -- Blessing of Animals - Friday morning was a special day not only for the parishioners here at St. Benedict but especially for the school children and their parents. Fr. Francisco blessed their pets in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. Father blessed dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, fish, hamsters, crabs, ducks and other animals. The students had heeded father's advice and brought no snakes or tarantulas to be blessed!
